Best of 2010: I Heart Buenos Aires Mucho!

Floralis Generalis - Buenos Aires

A little rough on the edges, a wee-bit faster (in my opinion) than New York City, a tad bit dog-poo infested, despite it all my heart will always hold a spot for the lovely gem-of-a-city Buenos Aires.  The month that I spent in Buenos Aires was a revelation on multiple fronts.  The city is bursting with creativity!  Palermo Soho, where my apartment was located, is a barrio full of quirky shops, delicious restaurants, and art permeating throughout.  The food! The flavors, the smells, the presentations – oh, how I indulged like no other!  My favorite restaurants: To, Crizia, Don Julio, De Lira RestaurantPortenos are fierce but welcoming.  The city is is where I learned Spanish at VOS Buenos Aires, where I made many friends and realized it’s never too late to learn a new language.  Oh man, and the possibilities! There’s something in the air that beckons people from all over to set-up shop in Buenos Aires.  Ideas and potential abound, and you’ll meet people like Frédéric DuBois who has grasped at the opportunity and has created a lovely place like the Rendez-Vous Hotel in Palermo Hollywood.  Four weeks was a good amount of time, but not long enough.  But the next time I go, I will bring Andreas along.  His absence was the only downside to my Buenos Aires adventure.  This, of course, means that we need to start our plans to visit Buenos Aires soon!
